Lime Slurry Transfer - Challenge

One of the world’s largest producers of lime and gypsum needed to transfer lime slurries from a thickener to a heat exchanger at a controlled flow rate of 110 gpm and a pressure of 116 psi.

The sludge contained up to 20% solids with particles reaching 40 mm.

The quarry’s existing centrifugal pump delivered an excessively high flow rate for the heat exchanger and required a 174 hp motor, resulting in high energy consumption, frequent maintenance, and significant noise
