High grade material progressing cavity pumps

PCM A series

PCM A series provides the best fluid handling solutions when an engineered pump is required. PCM A series handles a wide range of fluids, mostly in the field of upstream and downstream oil & gas applications, but also in industries such as environment, mines, chemistry, or paper.

PCM A series is the first choice when facing any of the challenges of high viscosity, solids handling, or low shear applications. Progressing cavity pumps have the lowest Net Positive Suction Head (NPSH) requirements of all pumps. Designed with PCM Moineau™ pump technology, they provide efficiency while reducing lifecycle costs for challenging applications.

Engineered for Demanding Industrial Applications

High-grade material

PCM A Series is the premium choice for engineered pumping solutions and demanding applications. It relies on the experience of more than 90 years of surface pumping in the oil & gas industry’s harshest environments whether it is operating onshore or offshore. A PCM Moineau™ pump is a progressing cavity pump made of a single helix rotor inserted in a double helix elastomer stator. When the rotor turns, sealed cavities progress along the pump, moving the fluid from the inlet to the outlet. Finding the right fit between the rotor and stator ensures high production efficiency and an optimal run life.

PCM adapts each rotor sizing according to 4 variables:

  • Crude oil API°
  • Temperature
  • Type of elastomer
  • Pump geometry

From the choice of the material (carbon steel, stainless steel, duplex steel and super duplex Steel) to the choice of the stator or rotor, PCM A Series adapts to every situation. The PCM A series pumps are reversible and can be mounted in vertical or horizontal orientations.

Difficult fluids handling

PCM pumps can be highly customized to obtain a configuration adapted to any specific installation, meeting project specific challenges and operators’ own unique asset standards.  PCM A Series progressing cavity pumps transfer not only sludges and viscous fluids, but also fluids with suspended solids such as sand, or fluids with free gas. These pumps gently convey the fluids, with a low shearing effect and have the lowest NPSH technology on the market. PCM A series progressing cavity pumps ensure flowrate proportional to running speed, non-pulsating flow, and the flowrate is unaffected by fluctuations in pressure or fluid viscosity.

Ease of maintenance

Because of their compact design with shorter articulation, the PCM A series pumps incorporate a high strength articulated drive shaft to accommodate the eccentric motion of the rotor. They also feature a patented connecting system for quick and easy removal of the rotor and stator during maintenance, with minimal clearance. The mechanical seal is accessible without disturbing piping, and in the bearing version it is accessible without moving the drive.

The shaft design allows for a smaller diameter mechanical seal without compromising performance, leading to reductions in capital and operating costs for end users: up to 30% savings on replacement seals.

Two configurations: monobloc or bearing

The PCM Moineau™ A pump is available in two configurations:

  • monobloc (simplest and most compact design)
  • bearing (long coupled).  The bearing configuration allows the removal of the mechanical seal for maintenance without moving the drive.

Optional Seals and Drive Configurations

Developed using PCM Moineau™ technology, invented by PCM co-founder René Moineau, the PCM A series pumps feature a PCM Moineau™ pump design.

It consists of a helical rotor that rotates within a helical stator. The metallic rotor is precisely machined, and the stator is molded from a durable elastomer. As the rotor turns inside the stator, the cavities move spirally along the pump's axis, maintaining both their shape and volume, conveying fluid from the inlet to the outlet.
