Multiphase booster systems provide incremental oil production from mature fields, by reducing wellhead pressure. One of the most interesting challenges is boosting the fluid from the wellhead to the processing facilities. Our pumps are commonly used to pump liquids, often with suspended solids, and rarely relatively small amounts of gas. In the case of multiphase booster though, the amounts of gas become the leading factor, and this brings a few additional challenges.
PCM provides cost effective and reliable pumping solutions to pump the multiphase mixture instead of having to install separation facilities at each wellhead cluster. While reducing capital cost, PCM technology lowers the backpressure on wells and improves the global footprint of the equipment. The patented PCM Slugger is a hydraulically controlled progressing cavity pump (HRPCP) designed to offer a simple upgrade solution for multiphase pumping operations.
With a conventional PCP operating in multiphase flow, pressure tends to accumulate on the pump’s discharge side, reducing its service life. The PCM Slugger balances pressure throughout the pump, distributing it more evenly along the stator. This minimizes internal stress, enhances reliability, and extends operating life. HRPCP technology improves the standard PCP design by integrating hydraulic regulators along the pump, built directly into the rotor.
The PCM Slugger is an exceptionally adaptable option for extending the lifespan of PCPs across a broad range of pumping environments.
