Our Proprietary Elastomer Expertise
A Legacy of Over 90 Years
Elastomer is a specific material that plays a critical role in the operational efficiency of positive displacement pumps, whether they are PCP, hose or diaphragm pumps. Elastomers are dynamic, moving continuously with the action of the pump.
The elastomer’s ability to withstand the pumping action and the fluids being handled has a direct impact on the Life Cycle Cost of a pumping system. Picking the wrong elastomer can spell disaster for pump investment and customer installation.
To ensure that our pumps always feature the highest quality , PCM has its own proprietary elastomer formulations and has operated its own elastomer mixing and injection facilities since its creation over 90 years ago.
In-House Formulation & Manufacturing Since 1932
We are one of the few manufacturers who still produce their own elastomers. Elastomer production is rooted in the history of the Company since René Moineau invented the progressive cavity pump and is one of our core competencies. We develop formulas in our state-of-the-art laboratory using decades of real-world experience. We capitalize on our unique in-house expertise to provide the best match for your fluids and applications.
PCM’s customers encounter a wide array of fluids requiring careful consideration and solutions to ensure that the elastomers used in PCM equipment deliver optimal functional characteristics.
From laboratory testing equipment to large mixers, injection presses and vulcanization ovens, PCM has all the necessary equipment and knowledge within its premises to ensure perfect control of its elastomer selection and manufacturing.
- Mechanical tests (static, dynamic, compression, bonding),
- Tribology (abrasion, friction),
- Chemical tests (swelling tests, volume and hardness variation, thermal analysis, infrared spectroscopy.
Unique database of elastomer formulas and fluid compatibilities
We manage internally all the steps of the production of elastomers from numerical simulation and chemical formulation to elastomer mixing and injection.
After production we check all our elastomers parts to be sure that they will meet all your requirements.
These include:
- Mechanical resistance to abrasion,
- Chemical resistance to the pumped fluid,
- Desired color,
- Compliance with regulations and rules,
- Optimized lifespan,
- Product integrity (structure, turbidity, etc.),
- Resistance to cleaning procedures.
Thanks to our expertise and knowledge we are able to analyze the different stators failures to bring personalized solutions to fix it.
