Optimize Efficiency for your Well intervention

PCM transfer pumps efficiently feed fluids to the centrifuge, with minimal change in flowrate over pressure, viscosity or solids content fluctuations. Proportional pumps speed adjustment using variable speed drive ensures easy flow rate adjustment without compromising performance.

With constant, non-pulsating flow, PCM pumps can transfer fluids with heavy solids content at very high pressure avoiding the need for auxiliary equipment or several parallel pumps.

Designed to provide easy installation on a rig and low-maintenance, reliable operations in harsh offshore conditions, PCM develops heavy-duty mobile skid solution for pumping the oil mixed with water and gas produced during well testing.

Challenges in Well Services

Slurries and Abrasiveness Management

During well testing and drilling operation, drilling fluids carry debris from the drill bit to the surface. At the surface, fluids contaminated with water, base oil and fine solids are transferred to a centrifuge for treatment. PCM’s progressing cavity pumps excel in handling abrasive fluids because of their positive displacement design. The rotor-stator mechanism allows for continuous transport of slurries without significant wear, providing consistent flow and long service life.

High Acid Content Requiring Seal-less Solutions

Some well streams contain high concentrations of acids and corrosive chemicals, creating a risk of leaks and equipment degradation. PCM offers peristaltic pumps that are completely seal-less, eliminating potential leak points. Peristaltic pumps operate by compressing a flexible tube to move fluid, which isolates the pumped media from mechanical components. This design ensures safe handling of aggressive acids, protecting both the operator and the environment.

Typical applications in well services

Drilling Mud Analysis

Accurate sampling and transfer of drilling mud require pumps that can handle high viscosity, solids content, and chemical additives without altering the sample composition. Peristaltic pumps are used where contamination-free transfer is critical, as the fluid only contacts the hose.

Incinerator Feeding

Feeding these systems requires pumps capable of handling thick, abrasive, and sometimes corrosive fluids. PCM’s progressing cavity pumps provide the torque and resilience to move high-density slurries reliably, ensuring continuous incinerator operation.

Acid Jam Preparation

Precise handling of acid blends is critical to prevent formation damage and ensure effective well treatment. Seal-less peristaltic pumps are ideal for this purpose, as they allow accurate metering of highly corrosive acid mixtures without exposing mechanical components to harsh chemicals.

FAQ - Well services

What types of fluids can PCM pumps handle in well services?

PCM pumps are engineered to manage a wide range of fluids, including high-viscosity liquids, abrasive slurries, and corrosive chemicals. Progressing cavity pumps excel at continuous transfer of solids-laden fluids, while peristaltic pumps provide leak-free handling of aggressive acids.

How do progressing cavity pumps differ from peristaltic pumps in oilfield applications ?

Progressing cavity pumps use a rotor-stator mechanism for smooth, continuous flow and are ideal for high-viscosity or abrasive fluids. Peristaltic pumps move fluid through compression of a flexible tube, offering precise, leak-free pumping for highly corrosive or sterile liquids.

Can these pumps be used for both small and large-scale operations?

Yes. Peristaltic pumps are often used for precise, smaller volume dosing, while progressing cavity pumps are designed for high-volume, heavy-duty fluid transfer, making PCM solutions scalable to various operational needs.
